While my day was beautiful, it was not over and the time for the webinar I had signed up for was upon me. Obviously late, it wasn't an issue - Neera's webinar was what I needed to validate my career path as an Author, a curriculum builder, an inventor of sorts. How am I going to market my product(s)? What am I going to do to validate my material? How am I going to make it work?
These are some of the questions I came to the webinar with and I was very relieved to hear how Neera responded my questions throughout the webinar and directly.
She is a huge inspiration, first of all, culturally coming from a patrilineal society, I do understand the difficult measures it takes for a woman to be successful. It is awesome to see hard work, dedication, and real support. She didn't give me a sarcastic or lame response, she was very direct, to the point about her own experiences without any shame or guilt or regret. I have not seen this in a person, let alone a successful one, to allow me the comfort of knowing - it's okay to be at my age in my field and moment in my authorship path.
I look around and see so many young kids, kids that are the same age as my child, and I am just starting. I get to interact with my courses differently since I have experience and do have authoritative within me to request or ask specific questions (which I did have to learn the hard way). Those other students may not realize how important it is to ask questions or provide feedback to instructors, to be interactive and engaging - it really does promote a better learning environment. Never let anyone make you feel less for asking ANY question! I swear, it relieves those tense thinking competitively and for others just like you while also allowing the instructor to fine-tune their approach and teaching material after that course.
Neera was welcoming, had great material for a free webinar. I do have to admit, this was my second free webinar and I was impressed with them. If you ever sign up for newsletters or some type of free webinar - please follow through, they do not disappoint!
I am going to buy her book, become a committed author, and allow myself to be guided with her knowledge base. I think it was funny to doubt Neera as a woman, as an ethnic woman, but also as an aged woman to believe she couldn't provide an awesome webinar (I actually didn't doubt her because of the writing she does, she is an amazing writer - you would not believe how many leaves she has turned inside of me with her writing on Substack alone!) But it made me feel more confident as a brown-skinned woman reaching age gracefully just as she did. She told me to not wait, do it, go for it now and not waste any more time! The adversities became less, I got more confident, and I truly feel happier about my life. I don't know her personal situation but she writes and looks like an author to me!
